Creamed Corn/ Crema de Maiz

CREAMED CORN

Ingredients: 2-3 cups of fresh corn kernels (about 2+ ears), ¾ cup of low-fat milk, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, 5 pinches of salt.

Directions: Place about 2 cups of corn (leave about one cup of corn on the side), milk and the cornstarch in a blender; blend until smooth. Pour the puree into a saucepan, add in the remaining corn that wasn’t blended to the saucepan. Cook over high-medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, until the mix thickens and the corn becomes tender. The sweetness of the corn and creamy texture, complements as a great side-dish. Serves two people.

CREMA DE MAIZ

Ingredientes: 2-3 tazas de granos de maíz fresco (alrededor de 2 + orejas), ¾ de taza de leche baja en grasa, 1 cucharada de fécula de maíz, 5 pizcas de sal.
Instrucciones: Coloque 2 tazas de maíz (dejar una taza de maíz extra a un costado), la leche y la harina de maíz en una licuadora y mezcle hasta que esté suave. Vierta el puré en una cacerola, y agregue el resto del maíz extra que no se  utilizo a la cacerola. Cocine a fuego medio-alto durante unos 5-7 minutos, hasta que espese la mezcla y el maíz se torne sensible. La dulzura de la textura de maíz y crema se complementa para formar un excelente plato de menu. Sirve para dos personas.
